The Concordia Society was formed on May 1, 1886, In Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. It was incorporated in 1906 under the name of Concordia Beneficial Society and its purpose and object "is the promotion of social intercourse and benevolence among its members." Today, "with the charity and donations and other generosities given to the community and the City of Birmingham, the Concordia Club is recognized as more than a dance and social club."


Concordia is a Private club. There are weekly dances every Saturday 8:00-11:00 PM. The club is also used by other dance organizations as a venue for their dances. Live bands: Classics, Tradewinds, George Winter Band, and Quest.  Dress is semi-formal during the fall and Winter months, (coat & tie) and casual (no jeans or sleeveless/ collarless shirts) May through November.
